Insight into the foundational audio systems and the current state of development for Murder Drones: Pummel Party. From engineering custom soundtracks to navigating critical updates, the process is detailed here.

Hello, this is Foxplort, one of the developers of Murder Drones: Pummel Party and its solo composer. I joined the team nearly a year ago, and yes — it is rather unusual that this is my first devlog.
Well, better late than never, I suppose.

It’s time to pull back the curtain and let you know how development has been going and where things currently stand.

The Rhythmic Journey: Engineering the Sounds of Pummel Party

Let’s start with the music system.

It feels like ancient history, but our first batch of soundtracks — ambient vibes for the Worker Drone survival experience — was integrated into version 3.3 in April 2025. The truth is, I started working on them way back in August 2024.

I certainly recall the late nights.
October 10th was dedicated to composition: “Lost and Found” was finished by 1 AM, and “Third” was polished off by 3 AM. Then came February, bringing “Dropdown” and “Congregation.”

The final push for Volume 1 happened in April with tracks like “Snowfall” and “Nightmare in Flesh,” completing the suite just a week before release. It was a focused sprint to establish the auditory foundation.

After the 3.3 launch, we took a necessary step back. After about two months, I dove into Volume 2. This phase was a different kind of challenge entirely, as it involved creating music from the Murder Drones’ perspective, which debuted in version 3.4. The soundscape had to shift to properly accompany the hunter.

Volume 2 is still a work in progress, and managing the workload has been demanding. I’m currently focused on creating two entirely new soundtracks specifically for the upcoming Offices update. It’s a significant effort for a single composer, juggling themes and atmospheres, but I’m committed to the result.

I’m happy to report that one of these new tracks is complete.

The Offices Update: A Long-Awaited Chapter

The Offices update is a massive undertaking for the whole team. We’ve been working on this new environment since last November — over eight months of continuous development. We’re making serious, steady progress toward getting it finalized.

I know the question everyone is waiting for: the release date.
Yes, we have one internally. No, we are not sharing it publicly yet.

We’ve learned our lesson in the past — things happen, development is unpredictable, and we won’t compromise the stability of the final product by being rushed. We’re focused on delivering a solid, polished update, even if that means taking a bit more time.

On the lighter side of being a small team, we have unique experiences. For example, when Dum, our lead developer, had to fix the newest killer’s animations three times because the Roblox animation system being good. It’s these kinds of inherent technical struggles that brighten up the day.

The team recognizes that the game’s player count has experienced a recent dip. We’re committed to turning that around by delivering this new content.

Beyond the Wires: Context and Future Concepts

On a personal note, seeing the game’s metrics decline is never ideal. Real-life external pressures have also been high recently. For me, engaging with Murder Drones: Pummel Party and creating the audio systems is more than just development — it’s a necessary process to decompress, focus creativity, and briefly disregard the outside world.

Knowing that the community enjoys the music makes the effort worthwhile.

Finally, I’ve had a significant concept brewing: developing an entirely separate Murder Drones game. This project would be designed to finally utilize ambitious, high-concept ideas and canceled content that simply couldn’t be integrated into the current Pummel Party architecture.

It’s a huge undertaking that would require a much larger, motivated crew than our current small team. If the right resources and opportunity materialize, perhaps that will be a story for a future devlog.

Thank you for continuing to support our work.
